The new Wisma Putra buildings are totally computerized to handle functions such as air conditioning and
mechanical ventilation, hydraulic, plant irrigation, energy management, fire, security, elevators etc.
Wisma Putra has not only attracted public attention due to the high visibility on the hill, surrounded by
greed, but also scored a few firsts for Malaysia:
- The first to use chilled wated for building air-conditioning directly generated from direct gas fired chillers.
- The first to use pre-cooled fresh air handling unit for pressuring the building to achieve low humidity and
indoor air quality within the building.
- The first to use air to water heat pump technology with environmentally friendly refrigerant for high hot
water temperatures.
- The first to use computer control for plan refrigeration.
- The first building in Malaysia to have a loop duct system integrated with valve system

Selection of the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing System for a building located on high ground in Putrajaya
posed various engineering challenges to the project team:
- Safe, environment and occupant comfort but with cost effective building services
- Constructability, schedule and suitable implementation within the local social, industrial, economic environment
- Cold water transfer pump station
- Cost effective pressurized fire hydrant system
- HT Electrical distribution
- Distribution cooling water generated from direct natural gas fired chillers
